Privacy

The Times of Gaza is an independent news site. This page explains what information the site handles when you read it.

Visitor statistics

We count visits with Matomo, an open-source statistics tool that runs on our own server. The figures tell us which articles are read, in which language, and roughly where readers are. They are never shared with or sold to anyone.

  • No cookies are set for statistics and nothing is stored on your device.
  • Your IP address is shortened before it is saved, so it cannot identify you.
  • If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, your visit is not counted.
  • Visit records are deleted after six months; only anonymous totals are kept.

We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time by switching on "Do Not Track" in your browser.

Cookies

This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies, so it shows no cookie banner. It remembers your choice of light or dark mode in your browser. If you log in, a session cookie keeps you signed in.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the weekly email, we store your email address and the language you chose, and nothing else. We use them only to send that email, on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). The address is saved only after you confirm it through a link we send you; unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after seven days. Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address at once. The emails contain no tracking pixels and no tracked links.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested) for a short period to keep the service secure.
