One year after a ceasefire was announced in the Gaza Strip, Israeli military attacks have continued at a rate that leaves one Palestinian killed or injured every 90 minutes, according to a report published by the humanitarian charity Islamic Relief.
Over the twelve months following the announcement, ongoing Israeli strikes have killed at least 1,454 Palestinians across the enclave and injured more than 5,000 others, the organisation documented via ReliefWeb. Among those confirmed dead were at least 320 children, representing an average of nearly one child killed every day of the past year.
Displacement Across Most of the Territory
The humanitarian assessment revealed that Palestinians have now been forcibly expelled from 65 percent of Gaza. Hundreds of thousands of displaced families have been driven into desperately overcrowded conditions where they face severe shortages of safe drinking water, essential healthcare services, and nutritious food.
BBC News reported that large numbers of Palestinians remain confined to cramped tent cities across the strip, while a diplomatic framework led by the United States to end the war has largely stalled.
People across Gaza continue to endure persistent terror for their lives amid regular bombings and unmanned aerial drone strikes. An Islamic Relief aid worker stationed in the enclave, whose name was withheld to ensure their safety, described the reality on the ground:
"There is no ceasefire in reality. They target displacement camps and crowded areas."
Severe Restrictions on Lifesaving Aid
Humanitarian relief efforts remain severely obstructed by Israeli authorities, Islamic Relief noted. The organisation stated that Israeli restrictions continue to block critical humanitarian aid deliveries, including basic shelter materials, fuel for essential operations, and urgent medical supplies for struggling health facilities.
Al Jazeera reported that Islamic Relief has issued an urgent call for international action as lethal strikes persist and civilian survival conditions rapidly worsen. The charity warned that the international community is failing to uphold its basic obligations to safeguard Palestinian civilians, leaving the territory's children and youth without protection or a viable future.
